Before the rest of the city knows that it is morning, we wake. Gathering our belongings for the long trip that awaits us. We were always a 'Point A to point B' family - couldn't possibly stop to sight see in between. Somehow things are different now. We appreciate the rural and ruggedness. The burnt earth and the towering mountains that we will soon pass. It's familiar, safe and even calming. I feel at peace.
As I venture down the long and narrow road, soon to become dirt. Around the hills that soon become mountains. This land will always be a part of me.
